The full form of VDO is Village Development Officer. It is called Village Development Officer in Hindi. The work of VDO is to develop rural areas. The status of a village is conveyed to the state government only by the VDO.

VDO is a Non-gazetted Government

Eligibilty for VDO

To become a Gram Panchayat Officer i.e. VDO, the candidate should be 12th pass. Along with this, the candidate should have a Diploma in CCC Computer Course. The age of the candidate for the post of Gram Panchayat Officer should be between 18 years to 40 years.

Age Limit to become a VDO Officer

To become a VDO officer, the candidate's age should be between 18 years to 40 years.

But there is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC category while 5 years relaxation has been given for the candidates of SC/ST category.

VDO Exam Selection Process

To become a VDO officer, a candidate has to appear in the examinations conducted by the Service Selection Commission. This exam is conducted in three phases which are as follows -

  • Written exam
  • Interview
  • Physical test


Written exam

The written exam is of 1 hour thirty minutes. In this exam, 30 questions are asked related to Hindi and Writing Ability, which are of 30 marks, apart from this 20 questions are asked from General Aptitude Test and 30 questions related to General Awareness.

Interview

After passing the written test, the candidate is called for the interview where he/she is asked different types of questions. 20 marks have also been fixed for the interview, which depends on your interview.

Physical test

After passing the written test and interview, the candidate is called for the final stage physical test. This physical test includes 01 mile run, long jump, 04 mile cycle race and 02 mile walk etc.

VDO officer salary

The salary of VDO officer is very good. VDO officer gets Rs 5200-20200 as salary.
